History

Hello,

I've been making edits to weapons pages, under the History section (Wood Mallet, Lead Rod and Iron Edge), to include new buffs that were added in 1.6. The first one I did, I followed the placement, format and wording as was already shown on the weapon, Forest Sword. In game, these buffs all show up on the weapon descriptions with Yellow Stars and then the name of the buff (ie: Slime Gatherer, Slime Slayer) or a description of the stat change (ie: -# Weight, +# Speed). The new buffs are written in a different color font than the original weapon buffs and the use of the Yellow Star is different than the specific images that were originally used for Weight and Speed.

My concern is that I am now unsure if they use a different image and font color because the buffs are new or because they are randomly generated perhaps?

I noticed that the weapon Holy Blade, instead, uses a purple star and purple text in the description for Crusader, and that on the wiki page for this weapon, that buff is not listed in the History section, but fully in the information block on the right of the page (very fancy and official looking =)).

So, now of course, I am concerned that I have been making incorrect edits. Please let me know if I should continue as I am, or wait until someone more knowledgeable deals with them. Thank you in advance, Jaxwyn (talk) 02:01, 19 May 2024 (UTC)

Hey! Perhaps reading Forge#Innate_enchantments clarifies some parts. Generally speaking lower level weapons (non-galaxy sword like) have innate enchantments displayed with a yellow star. The one deviation that I've found is indeed the Holy Blade you mention, that one always has a Crusader enchant (I guess its thematic). For some reason that one is in-game displayed as purple, so we're keeping it consistent with that on the wiki.
Concerning the history section, Holy Blade as a whole has become obtainable since 1.6, so its stats (and enchant) didn't change since it was just introduced. Hope that makes sense. YuvixAdun (talk) 05:35, 19 May 2024 (UTC)
Hello YuvixAdun, thank you for replying! So how I'm understanding this then, is that the new buffs/enchantments that are appearing on dropped weapons, are the same as innate enchantments that a player could add themselves, by using the forge. Does that mean that the dropped weapons, for example the Wood Mallet, could have different combinations of the available enchantments for different players? If so, should I be adding the specific ones that I'm seeing at all, or just a note indicating that the weapon could have Innate Enchantments when found, with a link to the Innate Enchantments page, if they wish to see which groupings are possible? From what I've seen yes, the item can have different combination of enchantments, each drop can have a new combination. I don't think adding the specific ones would be helpful. The weapon page as it is right now explain how the mechanism works. It applies to all lower leveled weapons, so adding it on each page would be a bit redundant. Not sure how others think about it. Thank you, YuvixAdun. That makes sense and clarifies everything. I will go back and remove the edits I had made listing specific enchantments on dropped weapons. Jaxwyn (talk) 20:34, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
