“Penny lives with her mom, Pam, in a little trailer by the river. While Pam is out carousing at the saloon, Penny quietly tends to her chores in the dim, stuffy room she is forced to call home. She is shy and modest, without any grand ambitions for life other than settling in and starting a family. She likes to cook (although her skills are questionable) and read books from the local library.”
Penny is a villager who lives in Pelican Town. She's one of the ten characters available to marry.[1] Her trailer is just east of the center of town, west of the river.
Schedule
Penny can usually be found in town reading or cleaning up at the trailer she shares with Pam. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday she tutors Jas and Vincent at the museum, walking them both home afterwards. She doesn't tutor in the Summer season. Many Saturdays in Spring and Fall she'll take them to the town playground.
When it's raining Penny can either be found inside her trailer or visiting the museum looking at the selection of books.
Goes to bed in her room in the trailer for the evening.
Deviations
Her schedule can deviate if there are specific conditions like season, weather, or certain days of the week. Below are her schedule deviations prioritized highest to lowest (for example when it rains that schedule will override all others below it)
Entering the Town at a certain time (between 9:30AM and 2PM) triggers a cutscene of George unsuccessfully trying to get a letter in his mailbox because of his wheelchair. Penny sees him and tries to help, which leads to George scolding her. The player has the choice to agree with Penny or with George. Your response may affect her affection for you (look at Social).
• "I was. You did a kind thing there, Penny." +50 friendship points.
• "You should've left him alone. Now he's grumpy." -50 friendship points.
• "I'm just taking a walk, minding my own business." no change in friendship points.
Four Hearts
Entering the Trailer at a certain time (A time that she is at home and you can enter) triggers a cutscene of Penny complaining how messy the place is, and asking if you'd be willing to help her clean the place up. All goes well until Pam returns and gets into an argument with Penny. Pam eventually asks you to leave, and they continue their discussion for a short while before the scene ends.
Six Hearts
Entering the Trailer (possibly at 9 in the morning or 1 in the afternoon when she is inside) triggers a cutscene of Penny asking you to try out a new dish she is making. There are three options which may alter her affection for you.
• "(Lie) Mmm! That was delicious!" +50 friendship points.
• "Uh... can I get the rest to go?" -50 friendship points.
• "Well it's definitely unique... how did you get it so rubbery?" no change in friendship points.
If you lie she will tell you how much effort she has put into the dish, and that she will decide to name it after you. She then asks if you want to watch a movie, after which the cutscene ends. The other 2 options result in her commenting that the recipe was a failure.
Eight Hearts
Entering Cindersap Forest south of the farm (Around 10am-4pm) triggers a cutscene of a field trip with Penny, Jas, and Vincent. Penny asks you if you'd like to be a guest speaker and share your experience about the countryside with the children. Your response may alter her affection for you.
• "I'd love to!" +10 friendship points.
• "Sure." no change in friendship points.
• "No... I can't stand kids." -1500 friendship points.
If you agree to speak to the kids you are prompted to answer a number of dialogue options, after which Penny tells the children to run along and then begins talking to you. She asks you if you'd like to be a parent, your answer here may again alter her affection for you.
• "I haven't really thought about it." no change in friendship points.
• "Absolutely. I want a big family." +20 friendship points.
• "I guess so. It's a natural urge." +20 friendship points.
• "No, I don't think I'd be good at it." +10 friendship points.
• "No, The world's crowded enough already." -10 friendship points.
• "No, I don't want to be tied down with a family." -10 friendship points.
The camera pans and darkens and she thanks you for showing up.
Ten Hearts
The player will find a letter signed by Penny in their mailbox asking them to come to the Spa during nighttime, between 7PM and 12AM. The player must enter the bathhouse and make their way through the locker room. When the player enters the bath, a cutscene will trigger. Penny, having joined the player in the bath, asks if the player knows why she asked them to come. Your answer will impact her affection for you.
• "I feel the same way about you." no change in friendship points.
• "Sorry, but I don't like you in that way..." -1500 friendship points.
Marriage
Once married, Penny will move into the farmhouse and begin working at the museum on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Like other marriage candidates, she will add her own room off to the side of the bedroom, which happens to be a small library. This room is not editable, and has no functional items in it.
