Coal is a basic resource. It can be obtained primarily from mining rocks, killing Dust Sprites, purchasing from the Blacksmith, using a Charcoal Kiln, or panning. Coal may also be obtained in a number of other ways.

Coal is collected in many different ways, primarily while mining. Other ways include recycling trash and finding treasure chests while fishing. Coal is used in some crafting recipes and allows for smelting in a furnace to occur.

Coal purchased at the Blacksmith costs 150 during Year 1, so it is cheaper in Year 1 to buy 10 wood for 100 from Robin at the Carpenter's Shop and convert that wood into coal in the Charcoal Kiln. After Year 1, wood pricing increases to 50 per piece but coal increases to only 250, so it is cheaper to purchase coal directly.

Coal is a basic resource. It can be obtained primarily from mining rocks, killing Dust Sprites, purchasing from the Blacksmith, using a Charcoal Kiln, or panning. Coal may also be obtained in a number of other ways.

Coal is used in some crafting recipes. It is also necessary for smelting items in a Furnace or Heavy Furnace and smoking fish in a Fish Smoker.

Locations

Coal purchased at the Blacksmith costs data-sort-value="150">Gold.png150g during Year 1, so it is cheaper in Year 1 to buy 10 wood for data-sort-value="100">Gold.png100g from Robin at the Carpenter's Shop and convert that wood into coal in the Charcoal Kiln. After Year 1, wood pricing increases to data-sort-value="50">Gold.png50g per piece but coal increases to only data-sort-value="250">Gold.png250g, so it is cheaper to purchase coal directly.
